Consequently, the GNPC is one of 5 NOCs that are official partners and sponsors of the event and are involved in the agenda preparation, publicity, and execution of the event.
The summit was held at King Fahd in Senegal over three days with a local content forum on the 24th of October 2018 and the Basin Summit and Exhibition on the 25th and 26th of October 2018. A keynote address was delivered at the summit opening by the Hon Minister for Environment Lamin B Dibba deputizing for the Hon Minister for Petroleum and Energy. The Deputy Managing Director for GNPC Mrs. Isatou Auber Faal participated in the NOC panel discussion and the Petroleum Commissioner Mr. Jerreh Barrow delivered a country-specific presentation on oil and gas exploration in the Gambia and the current licensing process.
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy Rohie Bittaye co-chaired the Gambia’s country roundtable discussions with Petroleum Commissioner Barrow.
Due to the ongoing exploration drilling and heightened interest in the MSGBC basin overall as the current star performer in African exploration, the Gambia’s stand and delegation received lots of visitors, inquiries and requests for meetings.
Special meetings were held with Baker Hughes a GE Company, Invest in Africa, Mauritanian National Oil Corporation, the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures et de Patrimoine Minier (SMHPM) and the Senegalese National Oil Corporation PETROSEN.
